Alfa Romeo designers know how to sculpt a beautiful looking car and the Spider is further evidence of their talents: it looks stunning and arguably improves on the aesthetics of its coupe sibling, the Brera. It also drives really well even though the loss of the roof makes a noticeable difference to the stiffness of the chassis - and all the engines offer plenty of power, whilst falling short of blistering pace.
Breaking down has traditionally been part and parcel of the Alfa owning experience, although the Italians have been making big claims about their latest models coming on leaps and bounds in the reliability stakes. Either way, it seems well put together - but it's likely that this reputation will still generate weak residual values, so we'd suggest putting your order to auction and getting a good discount on new instead!
